Atlanta is Home: First look at the new house

Wow what a week I had last week!  So happy it is Monday and I can go back to work just to relax again. Since closing on our new house a little over a week ago, Brian and I have been running around sans heads trying to get our contractors lined up and all the work laid out that needs to get done before we move in.  That includes new paint, new floors upstairs, a custom closet system in the master, new lighting, garage storage, and all the other bits and pieces that go into getting those rooms ready for the work to be done…it also means… SHOPPING!!

inspirationAbove are a few of my inspiration photos for what I want the space to look like when it’s all said and done. Think ‘Room & Board meets industrial loft’. (photos: left/top right/bottom right)entrySince you haven’t even seen the new space yet I wanted to share some of the crappy photos I took when we first got the keys.  Here is the entrance to the house (it’s actually a townhouse in Midtown Atlanta to be exact).  Don’t you love that tang orange accent wall?! sarcasm… We had the painters come in last week to paint all of the main living spaces one beautiful shade of white.  main-1You can see here that the previous owner loved any and every shade of red there is.  And each wall in the home was one of them.  I kept the walls, ceiling, and main trim the same white throughout and accented the window frames, exterior doors, and the metal staircase a graphite gray.  Awesome!!overlookYep, that’s the tang orange wall from the entrance downstairs…mixed with a burgundy wall touching a red wall to the right…now it’s white.main_2You can see the colors continue to the loft upstairs on the 3rd floor. (Know anyone who wants to buy a second hand Jetson-style ceiling fan?)landingHere’s the loft.  We are removing the carpet and putting in Hickory hardwood floors. Obviously we have not done that yet…hopefully starting this week.kitchenNow to Brian’s territory.  To know me is to know that I DO NOT COOK.  My husband is the chef in the house.  He gave me the go-ahead that he could work with this kitchen, now I just have to add some designer touches: new lighting, new cabinet hardware, new faucet, and some stylish staging.faucet-installHe put on his plumber’s pants Saturday and installed this awesome new faucet.  Looks great!  There is still so much to do and so much to buy, but like most normal people, we can’t afford to buy everything all at once.  Keeping track of all the fabulous things I find can be a challenge…until I discovered KEEP.  It has changed my world.  It is similar to Pinterest, but more for specific items than inspirational images.  It keeps track of where to buy, the price, and any other details you put in.  It will even let you know if something you ‘keep’ goes on sale!  I created a board for my new townhouse to collect all the things I am pondering for the new space.  Here’s a snapshot.  What do you guys think?KEEPThis is just the beginning of my pins, but I love how it gives you an overall look at the room you are creating.  Head on over to KEEP and join.  Don’t forget to ‘follow’ me to see all of the other boards I am creating, and feel free to purchase something from my wish-list and send to me as an early Christmas present.  Happy Monday guys!!
