Decorating for Fall: Modern Harvest

I am a self proclaimed anti-decorator when it comes to holidays.  To each their own, but I for one have moved past the hand stitched witches, plastic jack-o-lanterns, and fake leaf garlands.  My everyday style is more modern, and I prefer to go a more subtle route when it comes to holiday decorating.  I focus more on decor that fits seamlessly into my everyday style.  I don’t want to be stuck decorating for a specific holiday, I want my home to feel like it transitions with the seasons. Changing out toss pillows and vases into a fall color palette or bringing in a few classic fall staples like feathers, indian corn, and natural gourds and pumpkins are easy ways to ‘decorate’ without ‘decorating’.  All these elements together give a beautiful and rich feeling of fall and allow you to transition from Halloween into Thanksgiving without changing out your decorations. (Who has time for that anyway!?!)

Here is my inspiration for a more glamorous approach to modern fall decor: jewel tone palette, warm metallic finishes, and feather details keep the look very classic and rich.  Bring on the pumpkin pie. Yum!
