Light your sparklers, raise the flag, and pull your weinies out…and put them on the grill. We are gearing up for your last weekend to go shopping for all your patriotic decor. I have to admit, as a designer, I tend to get bored with the normal/same-every-year type of decorations.
What about you, are you a traditionalist when it comes to our red, white, and blue holiday? It brings to mind classic red & white gingham plaids and polkadots, cherry red vintage cars, and galvanized buckets mixed with mason jars for tabletop decor.
I am loving the regatta look that is so popular right now, taking the classic navy and white from our flag and pairing it with yellow and gold accents, nautical icons, and textured details with burlap, canvas, and braided rope. Clean pin stripes mixed with graphic geometric patterns make this sophisticated style look very modern and relevant for everyday decor, not just in July.
Or, if you’re really feeling against the grain, go for a lighter spin on the red, white, and blue. Melon, white, and teal are great alternatives for a summer party. Still a take on the classic independence day palette, but very bright and fresh. A playful look that can be reused for parties all through the summer months.
What look are you going with for your 4th of July event?
